Sago Palm
Despite its name, Sago Palm is not a true palm, but is part of the Cycad family. Fun fact: they date back to the Jurassic Age!
-
Sago Palm prefer bright indirect light or partial direct light. Place in a south-facing window for ideal sun exposure or place in a partial shady spot outdoors.
-
Sago Palm prefer evenly moist soil.
Overwatering is a common mistake, as they prefer to not be sopping wet. However, they don’t like to dry out all of the way either. Check the soil by sticking your finger into the top 2 inches. If it feels dry, it's time to water. Give the plant a good soaking allowing the water to drain out the bottom of the planter.

Sago Palm is a slow grower that doesn’t need frequent fertilizing. You can feed them once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Avoid fertilizing during the winter when the plant is resting.
Use a well-draining potting mix for Sago Palm. A standard houseplant mix should work well.
