Lemon Cypress Trees are Sun Worshippers!
Goal: Give it lots of bright light, ideally 6+ hours of direct or partial sunlight a day.
Indoors: Place it right by your sunniest window (South or West is best!). If it starts looking sparse or leggy, it's asking for more light!
Pro-Tip: Spin the pot a quarter turn every week so all sides get a fair share of sunshine.
-
Goal: Keep the soil consistently moist. Never let it completely dry out.
Test: Stick your finger about 1-2 inches deep. If it feels dry, it's time for a good drink until water runs out of the bottom drainage holes.
Watch Out: Soggy, waterlogged soil is a recipe for root rot, which makes this little tree very sad. Make sure the pot drains well! -
Lemon Cypress prefer a light, well-draining soil. Adding perlite and/or sand to a standard indoor plant mix will add aeration and help with drainage.
During the growing season (typically spring and summer), you can fertilize your tree about once a month. In fall and winter, it’s best to reduce fertilizing or stop altogether.
