Anthurium Clarinervium
The Anthurium Clarinervium is known for its heart-shaped velvety leaves. It’s a rare variety that is more difficult to care for than its common sister plant, making it especially sought after by advanced plant parents.
-
Anthurium Clarinervium grow best in bright indirect light. Placing it in an east-facing window or a few feet from a south or west-facing window should provide adequate light. In lower light environments, grow lights may be necessary to provide enough light. However, you should avoid direct sunlight as it can burn the leaves.
-
Anthurium Clarinervium prefer evenly moist soil. It’s best not to let them fully dry out, but they don’t like being soggy either. We recommend checking the soil by sticking your finger about 1–2 inches deep. If it feels dry, it's time to water. If it still feels moist, wait a few more days.
When you water, make sure to water thoroughly so that the excess drains out of the bottom of the pot. This ensures the aerial roots get a good drink.
Anthurium also prefer higher humidity so spritzing the leaves or placing near a humidifier is ideal.
-
Anthurium prefer a light, well-draining, but moisture-retaining soil. A standard houseplant mix works well, but adding a little perlite or orchid bark for extra aeration can be helpful. Providing moss or orchid bark also helps with retaining moisture. An orchid or aroid potting mix can also work well.
During the growing season (typically spring and summer), you can fertilize your Anthurium about once a month. In fall and winter, when the plant is generally in a dormant phase, it’s best to reduce fertilizing or stop altogether.
Occasionally fertilizing and repotting, you’ll encourage steady growth and keep your Anthurium looking lush and vibrant.
