Alberta Spruce

Our young Alberta Spruce trees make a great tabletop Christmas tree as they are mini evergreens!

  • Bright Light: The Spruce needs as much light as possible to compensate for being indoors. Place it in a location that receives bright, indirect light or even a few hours of direct morning sun near a south- or east-facing window.

Rotation: Rotate the pot regularly to ensure all sides of the conical shape receive light.

  • Consistent Moisture is Key!

Moist, Not Wet: This tree is very sensitive to both dry soil and soggy soil. Water thoroughly when the top 1 inch of soil feels dry.

Drainage: Make absolutely sure the pot has good drainage. Never let the pot sit in standing water—that’s a guaranteed path to root rot!

Check Often: It's common for these trees to dry out fast indoors, especially near heat sources.

  • Alberta Spruce prefer a light, well-draining soil. Adding perlite or orchid bark to a standard indoor plant mix will add aeration and help with drainage.

During the growing season (typically spring and summer), you can fertilize your tree about once a month. In fall and winter, it’s best to reduce fertilizing or stop altogether.
